About this space…

A warm bath, a silent walk on a wooded trail, an extra half hour of sleep, baking a special treat, a laugh with a special friend…

It’s the little things in a mother’s life that can bring the greatest amount of well-being to her soul. As women, we really don’t ask for a lot… but for some reason we have a tendency to feel guilty when we DO take time to do something for ourselves.

We DO deserve it though. No guilt necessary. Time devoted to finding ourselves is not a waste, but time well spent. By connecting with who we are as women and our own needs, we become better able to connect with and care for the ones that we love.

This space is a collection of  moments in the lives of mothers.  A place to capture and share how we spend the time that we steal for ourselves everyday. The time that leaves us feeling relaxed, calmed, inspired, warmed, nurtured….whole.

A few days a month,  we will each write a post that depicts a moment in our day which fed our soul. A description of just what it was that made the capture special. There may also be the sharing of a recipe, a craft, a pattern, a poem, a quote, etc...something that brought us joy.

We Deserve This is a place for our friends as well. For those mothers who happen upon the space and find not only some thoughtful photos and a few words…but inspiration to find and capture those moments with their own lens. With this in mind, we have set up a Flickr Group for We Deserve This and we invite you to share your own images showing what you do in that little bit of time that you are granted for yourself each day.

This project is very near and dear to our hearts and we hope that it becomes a place of inspiration to those who visit us here. We look forward to watching this space blossom and getting to know all of the women who will join us in finding the space to exhale in the everyday.

This is such a lovely idea and I am so glad to hear your voice again, Julia. I will pop over now and join the Flickr group. I am struggling at the moment to take care of myself and my own health as the toll of a four year old with Type 1 Diabetes just saos me so much some days… Finding an outlet for small acts of creativity is just ideal. Small acts whilst beingi aware of the big picture, eh? Thank you both for providing the inspiration for this and for the space to do it.
